Background
Fire Chief, John Roush, at JunXion Cafe.
Through our publishing stories on local first responders in JunXion magazine, including most recently the Longwood Fire Department, we've had a window into the very difficult job our emergency medical services (EMS) and fire fighter neighbors have.
A mostly volunteer force, their jobs have become more difficult, budgets tighter, with a growing population served and fewer volunteers every year. We want to honor and bless these folks with a great meal prepared with love.
We've wanted to do this from Day One.
You see that fine fellow in the photograph, that's John Roush, the husband of our Chef, Isbeth Roush. He's a career first responder with an impressive global resume. Currently he works all week in New York State, but you'll often see him at JunXion Cafe on the weekends smoking meats, making drinks, and serving the community.
John's dream is to one day retire and serve local first responders from the Cafe. And when you meet John and taste what he, Isbeth, Margarita, and the team are cooking, you can tell its made with love.
Here's the problem. While business is growing, we're still barely feeding our own families much less our first responder friends the way we've dreamed to do. Maybe some of you have the desire to serve these people too, and while you don't have the location and kitchen to do it, you have some funds to make it possible.
If you want to see this come to fruition this Fall, let's get it done. Make a donation with the link below, share this post, and let's feed our neighbors as a small, but important, act of appreciation for what they do. October is National Fire Prevention month, a great time of year to give these folks a boost heading into the winter.
Thank you for considering our request, and we thank you in advance for your help!
