Chadds Ford Area
Cheesesteaks Ranked
BACKGROUND
We asked friends and neighbors where to get a good cheesesteak, but did not get a consistent answer; even worse, many told us we’d have to travel to Philadelphia for the “real deal.” Finding it unfathomable that, in Philly’s own suburbs, a good cheesesteak could not be found, we set out to find the cheesesteaks worth recommending.
RATING APPROACH
Rarely is there a “Best Of” anything due to variation in personal taste. Our goal here is not to name a single best cheesesteak, but to call attention to the cheesesteaks that are worth your drive and money.
We believe this is what makes a good cheesesteak:
The bread - the vessel for delivering the stuffing, should be firm (not soggy) nor be too large or get in the way.
The meat - flavor and juice matters more than chopped or sliced, should be well packed with little or no seasoning letting the meat flavor shine.
The cheese - whiz, provolone, basically any cheese is good, but for this ranking we went with standard American.
Extras - we only added chopped onions.

Feels a little small in the hand, not enough meat, especially at the end of the roll. Meat has a slightly oily taste, don't really taste the cheese. Good roll.

Good roll, good amount of meat and cheese, but there was a weird flavor with the meat, I couldn't determine if it was seasoning or something else. I'd have to try it again to see if it's the same other time but the meat flavoring knock it down from what would have been better
